Why the first step is a conversation
Before anyone designs a page or touches a keyword, the decision-makers on both sides need to understand each other. That is the whole job of this session. You tell us what the business has achieved so far, what it is aiming for and what keeps getting in the way. We share how we would think about your website, search presence, AI visibility and brand. By the end, both of us should have a clear sense of whether a project together would be worthwhile.
Expect thinking out loud, honest questions and straight answers. Do not expect a deliverable: we do not send an audit, a report, a plan or a summary afterwards. Analysis of that kind is real work, and it is done properly inside a project.
| What you get | What is not part of it |
|---|---|
| Fifty minutes with the founder, who would lead your project | A pitch from a salesperson or account manager |
| An outside view on how your situation could be approached | Any audit, report, plan or written summary |
| A frank, two-way judgement about fit | An obligation for either party to start a project |
Topics we tend to cover
There is no fixed agenda. The conversation follows your business, though most sessions end up covering four areas:
- Ambition. What the company should look like in two to five years, and what growth means in practice: more enquiries, better-fit clients, stronger prices or a new market.
- Market. Which competitors you meet, in which cities, regions or industries, and how your customers go about finding and picking a provider.
- Starting point. Your website, visibility and brand as you see them today, and what earlier efforts did or did not deliver.
- Working style. Whether a remote studio on the other side of the world, working through scheduled calls and written updates, matches how you like to run things.
A good fit, and a poor one
This conversation is built for owners, founders, partners and directors of Australian businesses that sell on quality: professional practices, clinics, real estate agencies, B2B firms, established trade businesses and online brands. It suits you if:
- your website, search visibility or brand is something you expect to pay back over years, not months;
- you want one partner who connects website, search, brand and marketing instead of a supplier for each;
- you can decide on the spot, or your fellow decision-makers will be on the call.
It will not suit you if the priority is the smallest possible invoice, a fast site with no thinking behind it, or someone who will promise page one by next month. Nor is it a cheap route to consulting advice; the internet already holds plenty of free general guidance. And for a small technical job, say a broken contact form, a nearby developer is likely to be faster and better value.

From application to decision
- Send the form. The application sits lower on this page and takes a few minutes. A person, not a filter, reads each one.
- Hear back. Inside two business days you learn whether we think a conversation is worthwhile. If so, we send a booking link along with payment details.
- Meet online. The east coast runs roughly eight to ten hours ahead of the Netherlands, depending on daylight saving, and Perth six to seven. So your session falls in your late afternoon or early morning.
- Get our answer. Shortly after, we let you know whether we want to take the work on. A yes comes with a proposal setting out a fixed scope and a fixed price.
The reason it carries a fee
Because we only run a handful of client projects at a time, the founder's hours are the real constraint. Asking a fee filters for owners who have a concrete question and plan to act on what they hear. It also gives us room to prepare for your business specifically, instead of running a generic pitch.
Anyone who has commissioned substantial work knows it begins with a serious conversation rather than a free quote. For how projects themselves are priced, see the pricing page; for the stages after a yes, see our way of working.
Price and conditions
Fifty minutes with the founder costs A$425 excl. GST, invoiced from the Netherlands. These conditions apply:
- Talk only. The fee pays for the conversation; it includes no audit, report, plan or written summary.
- Stands on its own. The A$425 is never offset against a later proposal or project fee.
- Final once paid. Refunds are not available, and there is no satisfaction guarantee.
- One change allowed. You may move the booking once, free of charge, provided you tell us at least 48 hours ahead.
- Our call afterwards. Booking a session is not acceptance of your project; we decide that after we have spoken.
- No outcome promises. We make no promises about rankings, traffic or other results, now or in any later project.
