Google Ads agency for Canadian companies that want leads, not clicks

Kaptein Beacon is a founder-led Google Ads agency for Canadian companies. We start with reliable conversion tracking, build a clear account structure around what your customers search for, and spend budget where it produces enquiries and sales. Google Ads management runs alongside SEO, so paid and organic search work together instead of competing.

What a Google Ads agency should do for you

Google Ads can put your business in front of someone at the exact moment they search for what you sell. It can also spend money very quickly on clicks that never turn into anything. The difference is rarely the ad copy. It is tracking, structure, targeting and the page people land on.

Good PPC management covers all of that:

  • Measuring the actions that matter: calls, form submissions, bookings, purchases and, where possible, which of those became paying customers.
  • An account structure that matches your services and locations, so you can see what works and shift budget accordingly.
  • Keyword and search term management, including the searches you do not want to pay for.
  • Ads and landing pages that answer the searcher's question and make the next step obvious.
  • Regular reporting in plain language: what was spent, what it produced, what we are changing and why.

We work with a limited number of companies at a time, and the founder is directly involved in every account.

Tracking first: no reliable data, no reliable decisions

A common problem in Google Ads accounts is optimizing for the wrong thing: page views counted as conversions, duplicate form tracking, or no call tracking at all. Google's bidding systems learn from the conversions you report, so poor tracking teaches them to find more of the wrong people. Google explains the basics in its help article about conversion measurement.

Before we scale any campaign, we set up or repair:

  • Primary conversions for real lead or sale actions, and secondary ones for signals such as brochure downloads.
  • Call tracking for calls from ads and from the website.
  • Lead quality feedback: where your sales process allows it, importing which leads became customers so bidding can favour them.
  • Consent and privacy: tracking that respects visitors' choices and your obligations under Canadian privacy law such as PIPEDA.

Account structure that makes spending decisions easy

A clear structure lets you answer simple questions: which service brings in the best leads, which city is worth more budget, which searches waste money. We usually organize campaigns by:

  • Service or product line, so each has its own budget and results.
  • Location, where it matters. Canada is large and costs and competition differ between, for example, Toronto, Calgary and smaller markets. We target the cities, regions or provinces you actually serve.
  • Language: separate English and French campaigns where you serve Quebec or other French-speaking customers, with ads and landing pages written in each language.
  • Intent: searches from people ready to buy are kept apart from research searches, so they do not share a budget.

Campaign types such as Search, Performance Max, Shopping and remarketing each have their place. We choose them based on what you sell and how much data your account has, not because a new format is available.

Budget logic: how to decide what to spend

We do not recommend budgets by picking a round number. We work backwards from your business:

  1. What is a customer worth? Average order or contract value, margin and how often customers return.
  2. What can you afford to pay for a lead or sale? Based on your close rate and margin, not on industry averages.
  3. What does the market cost? Keyword research shows how many people search and the likely cost per click in your area.
  4. How much data do we need? Bidding needs enough conversions to learn. A budget spread too thinly across too many campaigns learns nothing.

That gives a starting budget with a clear rationale, and a plan to scale up when results justify it. Ad spend and our management fee are separate; both are set out in your proposal. You can read how we quote on our pricing page.

In-house, freelancer, Google Ads specialist or agency?

The right setup depends on your budget, your internal knowledge and how much else you need besides ads.

SEO and Google Ads together

Paid and organic search are often handled by different people who never compare notes. That wastes information. Search term data from Google Ads shows which phrases convert, which then guides the content you build for SEO. In the other direction, pages that rank well organically may need less paid support, freeing budget for searches where you are not yet visible.

Ads give you visibility while organic rankings build, which typically takes months. Over time, the mix can shift towards organic traffic you do not pay for per click. That is why our Google Ads work sits next to our SEO services and local SEO for Canadian cities, and why landing pages are built with the same care as the rest of your website design.

Lead generation for B2B and service businesses

For service and B2B companies, the goal is rarely a click or even a form. It is a qualified conversation. We structure lead generation campaigns around that: clear qualifying information in ads and on landing pages, forms that ask the right questions without scaring people off, and feedback from your sales team about which leads were worth pursuing.

Some companies look for a full service marketing agency or a broad digital marketing agency that covers social media, content and email as well. We focus on search: Google Ads, SEO, AI search visibility, websites and the brand underneath them. If you need channels we do not cover, we say so.

How we start and what happens next

  1. Strategy session (50 minutes, paid). A professional introductory conversation with the founder about your ambition, your market and whether we are the right fit.
  2. Proposal with fixed scope and fee, plus a recommended starting budget and its reasoning.
  3. Tracking setup or repair, then account restructure or build.
  4. Launch and learning period, with close monitoring of search terms and lead quality.
  5. Monthly review: results, changes and next steps, in plain language.

Every new account needs a learning period, and no honest agency can promise a specific cost per lead in advance. More on our approach in how we work.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I spend on Google Ads?

It depends on what a customer is worth to you, what you can afford per lead or sale, how competitive your keywords are and how much data bidding needs to learn. We calculate a starting budget from those factors rather than picking a round number, and adjust it once real results come in.

What does Google Ads management include?

It includes conversion tracking, account structure, keyword and search term management, ad copy, bidding strategy, landing page recommendations and regular reporting. At Kaptein Beacon it also includes alignment with your SEO, so paid and organic search use the same data and do not compete for the same searches.

Do I own my Google Ads account?

You should. Your ad account, its history and its data belong to your business, and any agency should work in it with access you grant and can remove. Be cautious of arrangements where the agency owns the account, because you can lose years of data and learning if you part ways.

How quickly will Google Ads bring in leads?

Ads can show within days of launch, but new campaigns need a learning period before performance stabilizes, typically several weeks. Results depend on competition, budget, offer and landing pages. We monitor closely in that period and adjust, but we do not promise a fixed number of leads or a guaranteed cost per lead.

Is a PPC agency better than a freelance Google Ads specialist?

Not by definition. A good freelance specialist can run an account very well; a large agency may give you a junior account manager. What matters is who actually manages the account, whether tracking is reliable and whether ads connect with your website and SEO. At Kaptein Beacon the founder works on every account.

Should I run ads in French as well as English?

If you serve customers in Quebec or other French-speaking communities, yes. French-speaking searchers respond better to ads and landing pages written in French, and separate campaigns let you control budget per language. Machine-translated ads tend to read poorly, so we plan French campaigns with properly written copy.

Do I still need SEO if I run Google Ads?

Usually, yes. Ads stop the moment you stop paying, while organic rankings keep bringing traffic once built. Running both lets you use ad data to guide SEO content and gradually reduce paid spend on searches where you rank well. The right balance depends on your market and timeline.
