The strategy session: CA$375
Every engagement starts with a professional introductory conversation: 50 minutes with the founder about your ambition, your market and whether we are the right fit, for CA$375, excluding applicable taxes.
The conversation is not a free audit and not a plan on paper. It is how you and we judge whether working together makes sense. How the conversation works is explained on the strategy session page.
Three ways to work with us
We keep it deliberately simple. There are three forms, and the first is always the starting point.
| Form | What it is | Investment |
|---|---|---|
| Beacon Strategy Session | A 50-minute conversation with the founder to judge whether we are the right fit | CA$375 excl. applicable taxes |
| Project | A website, online store, brand or SEO programme with a fixed scope | Fixed price in a proposal after the session |
| Ongoing advisory | Long-term SEO, marketing or coaching | By invitation, after a session or first project |
Why we do not offer free consultations
Many agencies offer a free discovery call. In practice, that is usually a sales call. We deliberately choose a paid conversation: our time and attention go to a limited number of companies, and a paid conversation means we speak with founders who are serious about their plans.
For you, it means a conversation with full attention, with the founder, at the level of your business. For us, it means we spend time on a real question.
No obligation, for either side
The strategy session does not commit you to anything, and it does not commit us either. After the conversation, we decide whether to take on the project. We do not work with every company: only with companies where we can make a real difference and where the collaboration fits.
How we set project prices
After the strategy session, we write a proposal with a fixed scope and a fixed price. It states what we will do, what you receive, the timeline we work to and what falls outside the engagement. You know the cost in advance, with no bank of hours quietly running down.
If your needs change during the project, we first discuss what that means for time and cost. We only change the agreement once you approve. The rest of the process is described in how we work.
Why we do not show "starting from" prices
A starting price says very little. One website needs five pages, another needs fifty, in two languages and with integrations. A number without context leads to comparisons that do not hold up. So we only give a figure once we know what you need.
What drives cost, by service
Each service has its own cost drivers. This overview helps you judge where your project is likely to sit. For more background, see our pages on web design, SEO services and Google Ads management.
| Service | What mainly drives the price |
|---|---|
| Web design | Number of pages and templates, level of custom design, languages (for example English and French), integrations and how much content we write |
| E-commerce website | Number of products and categories, payment and shipping options, integrations with inventory or accounting |
| SEO | Size and condition of the website, competition in your market, number of pages to create or improve |
| Local SEO | Number of locations and service areas, state of your Google Business Profile and local pages |
| AI SEO | How clearly your brand and expertise are documented online, and how much content needs structuring or adding |
| Google Ads | Number of campaigns and audiences, tracking set-up and landing pages (ad spend is paid separately) |
| Branding | Strategy or design only, number of assets and applications |
| Business coaching | Length of the engagement and how often we meet |
Payment, currency and taxes
Kaptein Beacon is based in the Netherlands, and our invoices are issued from the Netherlands. Prices for Canadian clients are quoted in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable taxes. If you are unsure how this affects your bookkeeping, check with your accountant.
After you apply for a strategy session, we let you know how and when to pay for it. For projects, the payment schedule is set out in the proposal, so you know in advance when each invoice will arrive.
Cheap or good: how to compare quotes
We are not the cheapest option, and we do not aim to be. When you compare quotes, look beyond the total:
- What exactly is included? Two quotes for "a website" can describe very different things.
- Who does the work? The person on the sales call, or someone you never speak to?
- Who owns the result? Check who owns your domain, website, content and accounts.
- What is being promised? A guaranteed first-place ranking is a warning sign, not a benefit.
